Trevor W. Ashley, DVM
Chief of Staff / Owner
Born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, Dr. Trevor Ashley knew from a young age he wanted to be a veterinarian. As a child, he was a member of a local 4-H club and was active in the community overall.
He earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech in 1998 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.
After graduating, he practiced as an associate veterinarian at a private practice in St Mary's County for 2 years before joining a large national veterinary practice and served as Chief of Staff at several locations in Glen Burnie, Bowie and Hanover MD for the past 13 years.
He moved to Pasadena, MD with his wife and son in 2012. His family includes four Italian Greyhounds named Stella, Phoebe, Leo and Matteo and a Chinese Crested named Wyldstyle.
Dr Ashley enjoys working with dogs (with a particular interest in Italian greyhounds and other sight hounds), cats, small mammals as well as birds and reptiles. His interests and medical expertise include internal medicine, nutrition, small animal dentistry, soft tissue and some orthopedic surgery as well as diagnostic imaging/ultrasound.
He aims to be known as the veterinarian of choice in the community and wants to give back to the families and the pets that he serves in the community.
Eric J. Anderson, DVM
Dr. Anderson graduated from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. After spending two years at the Center for Veterinary Medicine - Aquaculture Drug Team at the FDA, he worked as an associate veterinarian under Dr. Ashley for several years before serving as a Chief of Staff at a national veterinary practice in Calverton, MD. For the past year he has worked as an associate veterinarian at a nearby small animal veterinary practice and has been filling in at several local small animal veterinary practices as a relief doctor while also working at Small Miracles Cat and Dog Rescue.
Dr. Anderson and Dr. Ashley have kept in touch over the years and when Dr. Anderson learned that Dr. Ashley was looking to add an associate veterinarian to his new state of the art veterinary practice, he leapt at the chance to join his highly trained team.
He looks forward to partnering with the good people of Pasadena to help them care for their pets.
Cheryl Stiehl, DVM
Dr. Stiehl is a native of New Jersey but has called Maryland home for the last five years. Before joining the Lake Shore Pet Hospital team, Dr. Stiehl practiced small animal medicine in the Olney, MD area. She completed her undergraduate degree and veterinary degree at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) where she concentrated her studies in companion animal (canine, feline, and equine) medicine and surgery. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Stiehl was a registered veterinary technician for many years both in private practice and at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine where she worked in the small animal intensive care unit.
Dr. Stiehl employs an integrative approach to animal wellness, utilizing chiropractic, acupuncture, and other conventional and holistic treatment modalities. Dr. Stiehl completed acupuncture training in Mixed Animal Acupuncture at the Chi Institute in 2011 during her third year of veterinary school. Dr. Stiehl completed her Animal Chiropractic certification at Options for Animals in 2015 and plans to pursue advanced Chinese herbal medicine training in the future.
Dr. Stiehl has bred and shown Irish Setters since the 1990s and has an interest in genetic disease and genetic testing. She has a special interest in all aspects of canine reproduction; including artificial insemination, surgical insemination, freezing semen, and breeding soundness. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Stiehl shares her home with her Irish Setters, a few spoiled-rotten house cats, and Maverick, her wonderful Tennessee Walking Horse. Growing up 14 miles outside of Philadelphia, Dr. Stiehl is a diehard sports fan and attends as many Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers games as time allows. She is also an avid Bruce Springsteen fan and enjoys spending time with her dogs, horseback riding, reading, live music, and "the shore.”
Dr. Stiehl is excited to help expand the services offered by Lake Shore Pet Hospital. She looks forward to meeting the four-legged members of your family!
Veterinary Technician Supervisor
Amy has dedicated the majority of her adult life to caring for animals. She spent 20 years as a veterinary technician at a nearby animal hospital before leaving to pursue other opportunities. Amy has since missed working in the field and has made the decision to join the team at Lake Shore Pet Hospital. While she enjoys every aspect of veterinary medicine, she particularly enjoys drawing blood, catheter placement and assisting in surgery. Her compassion and caring nature are unquestionable.
Married in October of 1999, she and her husband Chris have two children and have lived in the Pasadena area since they met. Amy added Kaiser, a doberman from DARE, Doberman assisted rescue and education to their family a few years ago after reading about his rough start in this world.
In her spare time she enjoys running marathons, competing in Ironman triathlons and any activity that can be done in sun or on the water.
Cheri is a newcomer to the Maryland area, having moved from Minnesota in 2015. She is originally from North Dakota where she received her BS degree in Veterinary Technology in 1995. She had worked as a credentialed technician in several locations across the US, including Sandy Spring, MD, before deciding to pursue veterinary practice management. She is excited to join the Lake Shore team and work with them in their endeavor of developing their new hospital. She is looking forward to meeting and getting to know all the family members, two legged and four, who are a part of Lake Shore Pet Hospital.
Cheri lives with an energetic cat named Pixie who keeps her on her toes (and is the reason they can’t have anything nice!). Pixie was adopted from BARCS in Baltimore and Cheri is a strong advocate for pet adoption from rescue organizations. While work and class demands currently preclude her from dog ownership, she fills her need for dog contact while at work and looks forward to adopting retired racing greyhounds when she retires (hopefully a LONG time from now!).
Originally, from Gambrills, MD, Melissa currently lives in Worton, MD. She graduated from Arundel High School in 2006.

Melissa is very happy to work with Dr. Ashley again and be part of a great team.
Ashley is a lifelong resident of Ferndale, MD. She is a 2001 graduate of North County High School.
She has over 12 years’ experience in the Veterinary/Animal care field, working as both a veterinary technician and an Animal Control Officer. What she loves most about veterinary medicine is the fact that there is always something new to learn.
Ashley met her husband Adam while they were both employed at Anne Arundel County Animal Control. Together they have 2 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a rabbit and a few reptiles round out their crew. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys reading, relaxing on the beach, traveling with her family and cheering on her hometown teams the O's and the Ravens.
Rachel has always been surrounded by animals. She grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania and moved to Maryland when she was young. She started working as a kennel assistant at a veterinary hospital at the age of 16 and hasn’t looked back. After being promoted and working for many years as a technician at her previous job, she was ready to jump into her role here at Lake Shore. She enjoys the challenge of learning the many tasks of a technician.
Rachel has three cat and two dogs that she enjoys relaxing with at home.
