Cheryl Stiehl, DVM

Chief of Staff

Dr. Stiehl is a native of New Jersey but has called Maryland home for the last five years. Before joining the Lake Shore Pet Hospital team, Dr. Stiehl practiced small animal medicine in the Olney, MD area. She completed her undergraduate degree and veterinary degree at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) where she concentrated her studies in companion animal (canine, feline, and equine) medicine and surgery. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Stiehl was a registered veterinary technician for many years both in private practice and at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine where she worked in the small animal intensive care unit.

Dr. Stiehl employs an integrative approach to animal wellness, utilizing chiropracticacupuncture, and other conventional and holistic treatment modalities. Dr. Stiehl completed acupuncture training in Mixed Animal Acupuncture at the Chi Institute in 2011 during her third year of veterinary school. Dr. Stiehl completed her Animal Chiropractic certification at Options for Animals in 2015 and plans to pursue advanced Chinese herbal medicine training in the future.

Dr. Stiehl has bred and shown Irish Setters since the 1990s and has an interest in genetic disease and genetic testing. She has a special interest in all aspects of canine reproduction; including artificial insemination, surgical insemination, freezing semen, and breeding soundness. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Stiehl shares her home with her Irish Setters, a few spoiled-rotten house cats, and Maverick, her wonderful Tennessee Walking Horse. Growing up 14 miles outside of Philadelphia, Dr. Stiehl is a diehard sports fan and attends as many Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers games as time allows. She is also an avid Bruce Springsteen fan and enjoys spending time with her dogs, horseback riding, reading, live music, and "the shore.”

Dr. Stiehl is excited to help expand the services offered by Lake Shore Pet Hospital. She looks forward to meeting the four-legged members of your family!
