AAHA Accredited Animal Hospital in Pasadena
We're always striving to provide the best services for Pasadena and area communities. Therefore, we sought and hold accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). What does this mean for you and your pet? It means we uphold guidelines put forth by the authority on veterinary treatment and care. Most of all, it shows we hold ourselves to a higher standard of care. So come on in and experience the AAHA difference yourself.
The History of AAHA
After WWII, veterinary medicine evolved from focusing solely on farm animals to companion animals. As more and more people felt the joy and unconditional love pets offered, the demand for veterinary care increased as well. Then in 1933, seven veterinary professionals committed to increasing their quality of care by creating AAHA. Hospitals who wish to be a member hospital undergo rigorous testing to prove they hold best standards in safety, responsiveness, and cleanliness. Currently, AAHA is still the sole accrediting agency for animal hospitals in North America. Furthermore, their research and guidelines have set precedents in everything from pet vaccinations to surgical safety measures.
What We Had to Prove
To become an AAHA accredited animal hospital, we were evaluated on around 900 points. These points covered our safety measures, our facility, and our treatment. Many people may be surprised to know that, unlike human hospitals, animal hospitals are not required to be accredited. Rather than being complacent, we've proven our commitment to the highest standards in medicine. Additionally, we're reevaluated every three years by an AAHA representative to continue this commitment. As a result, you can always rest assured your pet is in the best hands at Lake Shore Pet Hospital. We look forward to treating your pet to the best!
