Here at Lake Shore Pet Hospital, we believe that regular wellness exams are the key to helping your pet lead a happy and healthy life. As such, we provide a number of services that are focused on wellness for pets, including our custom-tailored wellness plans. Let our Maryland veterinarian help your furry friend today!
Your first visit to our animal hospital in Pasadena will begin with a friendly conversation between you and our veterinary team, including our veterinary assistants and our veterinarian. Here, we'll simply focus on getting to know you and your pet. We recognize that many pets coming into an unfamiliar place for the first time may be frightened or scared, so we'll work on helping your pet feel as comfortable and at-ease as possible.
During this time, we also invite you to ask any questions or bring up any concerns you may have about your pet's overall health. This way, our veterinary staff can address these during the appointment.
Next, we'll move onto an overall health assessment. This will include weighing your pet, taking his/her temperature, checking his/her eyes and ears, listening to his/her heartbeat, and the like. Essentially, this part of the wellness exam is just like a physical you'd have at your local doctor's office. Our goal here is to make sure your pet seems overall happy and healthy, and that there are no obvious signs of a medical problem.
If we discover anything concerning during this assessment, we may speak with you about ordering more specific lab tests to get to the root of the problem.
As part of our pet wellness plans, we'll also have a conversation with you about your pet's diet and overall lifestyle at home. Specifically, we'd like to know what kind of food your pet eats and how much you feed your pet daily, in addition to how much exercise they get on a daily basis. For example, if you have a dog, how often do they play outside or how often do you go on walks? This information is important and can help us make recommendations for a healthier lifestyle, especially if your pet is overweight.
It's no secret that keeping your pet up-to-date on all vaccinations is important to his/her overall health and wellness. For this reason, we'll also take a look at your pet's existing medical paperwork and make sure there aren't any needed vaccinations or immunizations, such as rabies, distemper, or parvo-virus. If there are, we can quickly administer these right in our office.
Ultimately, the goal of our wellness plans is to provide an outlet for better overall wellness for pets. No matter what your pet's age, our team here at Lake Shore Pet Hospital believes in providing all pets with the highest level of care.
